Hot News from Mumbai!

My cousin, Mumbai Fashionita Mitali, has just informed me that "Desi Girl" the song of the summer has been replaced by these two Bollywood Beats: "Chor Bazaari" and "Aahun Aahun". Good to know!

Maybe I'm old skool, but I'm still hung up on Desi Girl. That was the craze at my sisters wedding. Let's see how long it takes to get these stuck in my head.

  1. Oh come on, if you were old school you'd be listening to Indian music played by humans instead of noises played by machines :-P

And it wouldn't be this 4/4 time junk. Give me that weird 51/57 timing, combinatorix based rhythms, and all those weird notes in between notes (as seen on the neck of a sitar) that India is famous for!

  2. I always wondered what was wrong with Bollywood music. Sometimes it just sounds totally off. hehe

  3. Dude you totally didn't even read what I wrote lol. Those videos you posted are in 4/4 time. REAL old-school Indian music often isn't (that's why it's used as a subject of study at many Universities).

  4. oh correction. I always wondered what the heck was wrong with the music my Mom listens too - she's all into that Classic Hindi music. It wouldn't be so bad if she could sing, but the combo of my mom's voice and classic Indian tunes grates on the ears just a little.
